Cheeseburger in Paradise
I learned how to use the gradient and mesh tool when I made the burger. I also learned how to make a symbol and create a drop shadow. I used the font Castellar because I thought it looked cool. I created a cup of soda and water using shapes and the blend tool to create the tapered shape. I also used the blend tool to create a stack of colorful star-shaped pancakes. I made it colorful because I wanted It to make it a kid's meal. I choose colors to match the food items.
Storyboard
I named this "The Hunt!" It introduces my mantis shrimp character. It shows her location which is the sea and what she eats. I wanted to make her seem ominous at the beginning by not completely showing her. I also think it shows her more non-human traits. When she pounces on the hermit crab and eats it I wanted to make her seem a bit cheeky and have the tone shift from a little ominous to something more cheerful. I wanted her to eat the hermit crab casually to show that this is a normal event in her life and how she lives.
Rough Character Sketch Project
I made a girl based off a peacock mantis shrimp. I wanted her to look lively and mischievous. I tired to use round and a few sharp shapes to make her look friendly but not completely. I would imagine she lives in the sea and behaves more like mantis shrimp rather than a human. The boy is this cyborg who lives in a sci-fi environment. He would be pretty serious but still inexperienced so he would be prone to mistakes. I tired to mix sharper and round shapes with the more sharper shapes being dominate.
Design Matrix Challenge
I demonstrated the principles of balance by creating shapes that were the same so that they were balanced. For emphasis I made one thing stand out from the others. For rhythm I made these patterns that I thought would create a sense of movement. To demonstrate proportion i made some things bigger than the others and some smaller. For unity I tried to make them fit together.
Four corners scene
I learned to make this scene by changing the parameters of the objects and changing the coordinates. That was mainly it. I also had to rotate some objects using the numbers given to me. It wasn't very hard or complicated. I also to change the colors to be more appropriate to the objects they were.
Computer Modeling & Animation
I begun this project making the screw and bolt and a wine glass using lathe and lines.
I liked making the screwdriver and the chess piece because they look cute. The screw was the easiest part but I had a lot of trouble with the screwdriver because the proportions looked funny. I used the splines when making this project. I can use this in the future to make shapes I want quickly. I learned how to use modifiers, compound objects, and splines. I think this lesson would be better if we learned more modifiers. I used a few of these models in this project: https://oon27.weebly.com/reflections/basic-modeling-skills-project |
Vignette
I made this vignette learning about feathering to make my image fade around the edges on top of my background images. I also used selection and a layer mask, which I was more comfortable with it after learning how to do it when I build a sandwich. I wanted to change the colors to make the images look better together so I used multiple blending modes like color dodge and divide at different opacities to change the colors. I chose the dolphins because they live in water.
Masking
I made this lady hold a crab in her hand. I learned about using the different selection tools. I used masking to get rid of the background the crab was on and erased some bits that were not selected. I made a shadow underneath the crab and changed the shadows slightly.
